First time in 25 years the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs said openly that Azerbaijan first violated the ceasefire regime by carrying out shelling; the RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Arman Navasardyan links it to another fact, “There is a ‘phenomenon of getting offended’ in diplomacy. They got offended that due to Azerbaijan the OSCE Yerevan Office was closed down. And its answer should have been given in any way and it was done.” According to Arman Navasardyan, the statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry is also important, as Russia resorted to that step, as it wanted Azerbaijan to understand that there are some limits, “If war breaks out, Russia should feel guilty, as it supplied huge quantities of arms to Azerbaijan, and it will turn out, that it will be the reason for resumption of military operations. It is true, now our soldiers are killed, there are always shots, but I do not think that large-scale war will break out. The parties should come to an agreement,” he said and cited Serzh Sargsyan, “There can be no word about concessions, compromise is possible, but it depends. If those lands are ceded, it will be something like suicide.” The RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary also touched upon Serzh Sargsyan’s speech in the NA. Arman Navasardyan noted that there were new elements in his speech, which cannot miss our attention, “The status quo was touched upon. It was said that it may be changed and there may be progress in the resolution of Artsakh issue. Compromise-yes, concession- no. It was Mammadyarov’s reply- peace at the expense of territories, which is bluff.” Arman Navasardyan also touched upon the USA-Turkey relations, “The US is entering the Near East with completely new programs. The US is retrieving what it has lost during the recent years. Saudi Arabia becomes first for the US in the region pushing Turkey aside. It may result in clashes between Sunnism and Shiism, which may penetrate into Iran and Syria. As the abovementioned countries are the allies of Russia, we can assume, that the upcoming meeting of Putin and Trump will not be favorable. They may appear in opposite sides of barricades.”
