Samvel Babayan did not want to attend court sitting
The detention term of Samvel Babayan, a former Defense Minister of Nagorno Karabakh, has been extended for two months. Samvel Babayan was arrested in March hours after the National Security Service (NSS) claimed to have confiscated a Russian-made surface-to-air Igla system. The NSS later claimed that Samvel Babayan had paid two other men to smuggle the weapon from Georgia. Babayan did not want to show up in today’s court sitting. “He predicted what decision the court might take,” his lawyer Avetis Kalashyan told A1+. The lawyer is going to appeal the decision.
