Earlier in the week, the British Embassy raised an LGBT flag over its buildings to show solidarity with the LGBT community. The move caused discontent in different circles in Armenia. It has also angered Kyuregh Talyan, a parish priest in the Kotayk Diocese.
“The slogan expresses a clear idea – Sodom and Gomorrah should not have an embassy in Armenia,” said the priest.
Arman Ghukasyan, a member of “For the Law” NGO added that they are going to apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expect a sober assessment from the Ministry.
The NGO strongly condemns the move [which conflicts with the Vienna Convention] and calls for the UK Ambassador to Armenia to make a public apology. After the apology the ambassador should leave the Armenia.
