While at the instruction of Prime Minister “Clean Armenia” project is being drafted in Armenia, pollution of environment continues to put the health of ordinary Armenians at risk. This issue of Kiraki (Sunday) program touches upon the issues of protection of environment. Air and water pollution in Armenia has reached dangerous levels. The reasons are different: from large volumes of mine industry to reduction of green areas. Besides, there are no modern wastewater treatment stations in Armenia and the Minister of Nature Protection Artsvik Minasyan confirmed it at his last press conference. Out of 20 wastewater treatment stations existing during Soviet years, only four operate now serving Yerevan, Gavar, Martuni and Vardenis. And these stations operate only partially. As a result, 48% of wastewater penetrates into environment with all its hazardous consequences. The program hosted environmentalist Karine Danielyan, Chairman of “For Sustainable Human Development Association”. Videos by Armavir “ALT” and “Sevan” TV companies.
