Arthur Aleksanyan’s successful start in Europe
Today Greco-Roman style wrestling tournament kicked off within the frames of European Wrestling Championship underway in the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. Four weight categories will perform today. 2016 Olympic Champion, 98 weight category Arthur Aleksanyan started successfully. First, our wrestler defeated Vilius Laurinaitis from Lithuania with 4:0 score. In the next fight our representative defeated Michael Kajaya from Serbia with 5:1 score. In the quarter-final Arthur Aleksanyan will face Norwegian Felix Baldauf. Other three representatives of Armenia performed unsuccessfully. In 59 kg weight category Gevorg Gharibyan in 1/8 final was defeated by Azerbaijani Taleh Mammadov. In 66 kg weight category Karen Aslanyan was defeated by Turkish wrestler Atakan Yuksel. Our heavy-weight Vachik Yeghiazaryan in 1/8 final defeated Greek Nicholas Leon, but in the next round he was defeated by Hungarian Balint Lam. They can fight only for bronze medals, if, of course, they opponents reach the final.
