Burning of Turkish flag angered Ankara
The annual torchlight procession in Yerevan which ends with the burning of a Turkish flag has angered Turkey. “A flag symbolizes the fundamental values of our nation, faith and freedom,” said Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “The attack against our flag which is considered to be synonymous with the existence of the Turkish nation has given rise to strong resentment and reaction among our people. We strongly condemn this move against the symbol of our independence and freedom.”
