Hovhannes Harutyunyan, a member of the Sasa Dzrer group that seized a police building in Yerevan in July 2016 demanding the release of its jailed leader, has started his treatment at the Armenian Red Cross International Rehabilitation Centre “He is in high spirits and has begun to eat,” Harutyunyan’s lawyer Hayarpi Sargsyan told A1+ Company. Hovhannes Harutyunyan received gunshot wounds in a firefight between the opposition gunmen and police near the seized police compound on July 26. He still has 18 metal fragments in his leg. The lawyer says Hovhannes is always escorted by police officers, even during the presence of doctors. The treatment will last 30 days after which doctors will gather again to decide whether there is a need to continue the treatment or not. As reported earlier the European Court of Human Rights gave the Armenian government until April 18 to answer its questions concerning Hovhannes Harutyunyan’s health. The lawyer does not know what reply the government has given to the Court.
