Relics of St. John the Baptist to be Taken to St. Karapet Church in Gavar
On April 22, at 10:30 am, the Commemoration Day of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist, Rev. Fr. Kirakos Davtayn will offer a Divine Liturgy in the St. Karapet Church in Gavar. In 2016, this feast was declared as Pilgrimage Day of the St. Karapet Church of the Diocese of Gegharkunik. With the blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; the Mother See will solemnly transport the relics of St. John the Baptist to the Gegharkunik Diocese. The 14th century cross reliquary will be taken to the St. Karapet Church for the Divine Liturgy. The relics of St. John the Baptist will remain in the Church narthex until 5 p.m. for the faithful to have the opportunity to be blessed by the sacred relics.
