“Should Turkey recognize the Armenian Genocide, we must ask ourselves what we should do next?” says Istanbul-based Armenian journalist and writer Vercihan Ziflioglu. Her deep contemplations over the issue made her understand that there is another danger threatening Armenians who live outside their homeland. She says Armenia does not realize that the Diaspora is experiencing ‘the fourth round of cultural genocide.’ The culture is destroyed and the language is forgotten. Few Armenians in Istanbul understand sermons in churches. How can they read and understand Armenian books? “Soon you will not be able to find an Istanbul-based Armenian who understands his Mother Tongue,” she said. Vercihan Ziflioglu has arrived in Armenia to participate in the presentation of her book entitled “The Eye.”
