Armenian weightlifters win 11 medals in European Championship
105 kg weight category weightlifter Simon Martirosyan (personal coach Ashot Pilosyan) won gold medal at European Weightlifting Championship held in Croatia. He gained victory with 414 (184+230) kg result in two exercises. Other members of the RA weightlifting team, +105 weight category Gor Minasyan (personal coach Hakob Pilosyan) became vice champion of Europe with 446 kg (211+235) result, and Ruben Aleksanyan (personal coach Garnik Aleksanyan) won bronze medal with 434 kg (190+244) result in two exercises. To note, Gor Minasyan won small silver medal also in snatch exercise (211 kg) and Ruben Aleksanyan won small bronze medal in clean and jerk exercise (244 kg). In women’s championship 75 kg weight category Sona Poghosyan (personal coach Hripsime Khurshudyan) won bronze medal with 227 kg result in two exercises and 90 kg weight category Tatev Hakobyan (personal coach Gagik Sedrakyan) won bronze medal with 230 kg result. To add, Sona Poghosyan won also small silver medal in clean and jerk exercise (126 kg), and Tatev Hakobyan- small bronze medal in snatch exercise (105 kg). 105 kg weight category Samvel Gasparyan (personal coach Harutyun Yeghoyan) for the first time participated in European Weightlifting Championship and took the 7th place, which was highly assessed by the specialists.
