Simon Martirosyan becomes champion of Europe
Weightlifter Simon Martirosyan, vice champion of Olympic Games 2016, today has won the first gold medal for Armenia at European Championship underway in Croatia. In 105 kg weight category our weightlifter showed 414 kg result in two exercises (184+230) and confidently took the first place. Bulgarian Vasil Gospodinov followed him on the second place. Samvel Gasparyan, another Armenian sportsman in this weight category, took the 7th place with 375 kg (165+210) result in two exercises. By the way, our compatriot Sargis Martirosyan, who was representing Austria, took the 4th place, but in snatch exercise won small silver medal. Today in the evening +105 weight category sportsmen will start their performances. Our two weightlifters, Gor Minasyan and Ruben Aleksanyan, are among the main candidates for awards.
