19-year-old Sona Poghosyan wins bronze in Croatia
Armenian weightlifters won the first medal at the 2017 European weightlifting championships in Split, Croatia. Armenia’s Sona Poghosyan (75 kg) came 3rd after a total result of 227 kg. This was undoubtedly a great achievement for the 19-year-old athlete. Armenia’s Andranik Karapetyan, who was seriously injured at the Rio 2016 Olympics, came 5th in Group B with a result of 325 kg (160 + 165), which was a good result after a long break.
