All polls are wrong and aim to mislead the public, the second candidate on the ticket of the Communist Party of Armenia said on March 29. Vazgen Safaryan says if his party takes seats in the next National Assembly, they will submit a bill to parliament to ban all opinion polls before elections. “Opinion polls do not reflect the true will of people. If they said that the Yelk alliance would garner, for example, 6.1 percent of votes, Yelk members would urge voters to cast their ballots for the alliance, believing that they would pass the fixed threshold. The votes cast for other parties would vanish. All these surveys are ordered, they are immoral and a big mistake from the political point of view,” said the Communist candidate. Vazgen Safaryan says only after elections can we see the true picture of the vote. “People say one thing and do another, especially in Armenia where there is an atmosphere of fear,” he said. Communists expect to receive more votes in Yerevan because there are more free citizens in the capital.
