HKK and Free Democrats are covered the least (video)
From February 14 to March 5 there were no legislative regulations in terms of balanced coverage. “Our citizens make very important decisions during that period and decide whom to elect as a result of coverage,” Head of Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardyan told the journalists, presenting the intermediary report on the RA NA elections’ coverage in 5 media outlets broadcast in the RA. In terms of coverage, precinct lists are a serious problem. According to Boris Navasardyan, there are no legislative regulations also in terms of equal coverage. He also touched upon ethical violations, “When the same violation is carried out by the same TV channel for the third time, there is already intention. For example, anti-propaganda by Tsarukyan alliance addressed to Free Democrats. We have registered 31 ethical violations, 21 carried out by Tsarukyan alliance, 11 of them directed to Free Democrats.” Before March 5, many parties weren’t covered, for example the Communist Party of Armenia (HKK), “Of course, balance has been maintained since March 5. Even if the powers involved in the electoral march don’t have campaign on that day, the particular media outlet goes, takes separate interviews, prepares reportages.” Mr Navasardyan also noted that during the recent two weeks Tsarukyan alliance and the HHK have been covered the most, and the HKK and Free Democrats- the least.
