In response to media enquiries, the National Security Service (NSS) says it has detained three citizens of Armenia who attempted to smuggle an Igla anti-aircraft missile system into Armenia. Samvel Babayan, a former commander of the Nagorno-Karabakh army, is among the detainees. "As a result of operative-investigative measures the NSS gathered credible information according to which people responsible for acquisition and transportation of the parts of the aforesaid anti-aircraft missile system reached a preliminary agreement with Samvel Babayan and acted in line with his instructions. An inquest into further details is under way. The NSS is trying to find out the purpose of acquisition and funding sources," the NSS said in a statement.
