Speaker of the National Assembly Galust Sahakyan informs voters that no one is distributing bribes at this moment. "Most probably, people who stand as candidates in the upcoming elections promise different things during their meetings with voters, but, apparently, no one can give bribes now, because the campaign has not started yet,” he says. The parliament speaker says bribes are promised by those candidates who are sure that ‘not a single wrong decision will be made on the election day.’ At the same time, Mr Sahakyan, who runs in the April 2 vote under the ranked voting system, does not rule out incidents during the election race. Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov says it is natural that Republican lawmaker Karen Karapetyan might have a negative opinion about the ranked voting system. “Yes, Mr Karapetyan has his opinion. So do we.” Karen Karapetyan said on Tuesday that he did not approve of the system ‘which will make starving people go against one another.’ Eduard Sharmazanov does not deny it but voters will not have to choose between two rivals, they will choose among parties. “You can cast your ballots for the candidate you prefer most,” he says. Likewise, Mr. Sharmazanov considers the differences among Republicans to be normal. Republicans are the best, he says. “I cannot say how many people would agree with me.” Unlike Karen Karapetyan, Eduard Sharmazanov is convinced that his party has the biggest chance to win the elections. The figures published by the Central Electoral Commission will show it. “The results of our surveys show that the HHK is leading in all 13 constituencies.”
