Members of the Yelk (Way Out) electoral alliance held a march from the Moscow cinema to Alexander Myasnikyan Statue to commemorate the victims of the 2008 deadly clashes. Lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan, one of the members of the opposition Yelk bloc, says on March 1, 2008, they did not even imagine that ‘such a thing could happen.’ “Even in the worst nightmare one cannot imagine that the state might use weapons against its people,” he says. Mr Pashinyan says the perpetrators of the post-election clashes have not been punished to this day as ‘the chain will take to the chief culprits.’ “Two persons stand behind the violent crackdown on the post-election protests - second President Robert Kocharyan and Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan who was the country’s prime minister at that time. Robert Kocharyan said everything was filmed and they would show it to the public. I am sure that everything was recorded but we have seen nothing because it is an important part of investigation.”
