Armenia’s Levon Aronian placed 9th in FIDE rankings
Armenia’s leading chess player Levon Aronian is placed 9th with 2774 points in FIDE’s new rating list. World Champion Magnus Carlsen is on top of the list with 2838 points. He is followed by Wesley So (2822) and Fabiano Caruana (2817). Three more Armenian chess players are included among the top 100 players - Sergei Movsesian is ranked 63th with 2679 points, Vladimir Akopian is 67th with 2675 points and Gabriel Sargissian is 87th with 2666 points. Armenia’s Elina Danielian and Lilit Mkrtchian come 32th and 40th respectively on women’s list which is topped by Yifan Hou of China who has 2649 points.
