Arayik Khandoyan (nicknamed Lone Wolf), one of the members of the Sasna Dzrer group that attacked and occupied a Yerevan police station in July, has ended his 11-day hunger strike which he began on February 17 in support of Artur Sargsyan, best known as “bringer of bread.” Sargsyan drove his car through a police cordon to deliver food to the armed members of the Sasna Dzrer group during their two-week standoff with law enforcement forces. Sargsyan, himself started a hunger strike on Feb. 10 one day after he was again arrested by Armenian law-enforcement authorities. “Dear Artur. I am ending the hunger strike and I ask you to do the same thing. We must be strong in mind and spirit and healthy in body. We have work to finish,” Arayik Khandoyan said through his lawyer Arayik Papikyan. Once again, he called on Artur Sargsyan to stop the hunger strike and ‘concentrate all his strength to the sacred cause of saving Motherland.’ On Monday, February 27, a group of young people went on an open-end hunger strike at Liberty Square demanding release of Artur Sargsyan.
