People evacuated in Syunik marz after earthquake

Hundreds of people were evacuated to high ground after a magnitude 3.9 earthquake hit Armenia’s southern Syunik marz on Tuesday morning, a spokesperson for the Syunik Governor told A1+. Vazgen Saghatelyan says many buildings, including the premises of Syunik Regional administration, kindergartens and schools had to be evacuated in fear of aftershocks. A 3.9 magnitude earthquake hit Syunik marz at 10:17 am local time. Jolts measuring magnitude 4-5 were felt in Kapan, Kajaran and Goris. A magnitude 3.3 aftershock followed the quake some time later.
