The authorities rely on massive fraud in the upcoming parliamentary elections as it will be impossible to rig elections at polling stations where cameras are installed. “The market of grafts reacts to laws. I have even heard that $100 is distributed in Kanaker-Zeytun district; this is the sum promised by Mihran Poghosyan. I can state that the market is prospering,” Levon Zurabyan, Head of the parliamentary group of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), said on Friday. He says whenever bribery did not work, they [authorities] massively rigged the elections. “Now they understand that they cannot predict the outcome of the elections and bribery remains the only option to guarantee favourable results for them,” he said. Commenting on the statement of former defense minister of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Samvel Babayan, who said that, with the exception of Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian alliance, all other forces running in the April elections had reached an agreement over seats in parliament, Zurabyan said he ‘does not see any logic in the statement.’ “Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Serzh Sargsyan met during the April four-day war in Karabakh.” The HAK representative says still in 2008, Levon Ter-Petrosyan stated that if hostilities resume, he would put aside political differences and call for consolidation.” The head of the HAK faction says that the first president [Levon Ter-Petrosyan] will participate in the election campaign. While Zurabyan does not rule out that the HAK might not be represented in the next parliament, he says the outcome of the April 2 elections might stun everyone.
