About 2000 self-employed people in Armenia are tax exempt in compliance wit the law on tax preferences for self-employed people which came into force on January 1, 2017. Under the law, self-employed people engaged in 23 economic spheres, who do not have hired workers and whose earnings do not exceed AMD 9 million, are exempt from all types of taxes. This category includes watchmakers, people who repair clothes and shoes, computers and washing-machines, and other household appliances as well as citizens who give private lessons. To apply for tax exemption, self-employed persons need to submit applications to the tax agency mentioning the type of their activities and period of engagement in these activities.
