Another issue of Kiraki (Sunday) program is dedicated to the ethnic minorities living in Armenia. The RA National Assembly ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination in 1993. According to the data of 2011 census, 57 thousand representatives of ethnic minority live in Armenia. The biggest community among the ethnic minorities is Yazidis, 35.308, Russians are 12 000, Assyrians and Kurds- more than 2000. Poles, Germans, Jews, Ukrainians, Georgians and other nationalities also live in Armenia. Based on this data, 4 communities have been chosen. They, according to the new Constitution, will have an opportunity to take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections and will be represented in the RA National Assembly. How will the ethnic minorities use this opportunity? Which are their main problems in Armenia? To what extent does Armenia support the ethnic minorities in the foreign politics? The program hosted Elinar Vardanyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense of Human Rights and Social Affairs, and Boris Murazi, Chairman of “Sinjar Yazidis National Union” NGO. Our colleagues from “Sevan” and “Ankyun +3” TV companies prepared video materials for the program.
