Man who provided truck to Sasna Dzrer group has frequent seizures
Khachatur Gichyan, the man who provided a truck to the Sasna Dzrer group which seized a police station in Yerevan in July 2016, has seizures after each court hearing and is immediately transferred to the Hospital for Convicts PI. Talking to A1+Company, Gichyan’s lawyer Tigran Sargsyan said his client has serious heart problems. Besides, he is put in a cell [in the Nubarashen penitentiary] where six beds are placed for 12 inmates. All prisoners in the cell smoke with the exception of the 70-year-old man. Tigran Sargsyan addressed an open letter to the Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) calling his attention to the issue. The Ombudsman’s Office soon responded to his concern saying that the problem had been solved and Khachatutr Gichyan would be transferred to a cell meant for non-smoking prisoners. Speaking about the charges levied against his client, the lawyer said there is no evidence proving his guilt and he will try his best to see Gichyan acquitted.
