Action: “People don’t have even toilet” (video)
Cold winter under inhuman conditions. Residents of a dormitory in Lenughi community of Armavir marz, are raising their alarm on their condition outside the Government building. “Any conditions are out of question. There is no water, no facilities. People even don’t have toilet. I have three underage children, I don’t have a house, when it is raining, I take my children here and there. People burn firewood worth AMD 300 000 and still feel cold; all the walls are cracked, ice is hanging,” says one of the residents of Lenughi. 29 years ago three dormitory buildings of Lenughi village were recognized to be in emergency situation. Residents of one building received financial compensation and were moved. 22 families are still waiting for their turn. “Governor cheats us; he says everything will be good, elections will be held and everything will be good. I won’t elect, he is telling a lie,” says a woman. Regional authorities hopelessly last November turned to Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan. There were advised to wait, but the situation is urgent. One of the villagers notes: “The answer is in urgent programs, they say that in case of means, they will solve the issue. It is the same when a child is hungry and you say that you will give bread, when you have it. When will it be? That child has already died.” Sargis Grigoryan, son of 80-year-old Jemma Hovhannisyan, died in 2001 in Iran in an aircraft crash. Until 2008 Jemma received compensation, but for already 9 years she has been deprived of financial support. “Some percent from the salary was set by the law, but I don’t receive it. I am an 80-year- old woman and I have been protesting for 10 years. Large amount of many has been collected, we visited Arpine Hovhannisyan, Hovik Abrahamyan, asked them to freeze and give only monthly salary, but we aren’t given even that,” says Jemma Hovhannisyan. Tomorrow, January 20, names of the organizations, which want to rerun “Nairit” chemical plant, will become known. Europe-Asia business financial center holding has also applied, which took into consideration the project on rerun of “Nairit” plant drafted by the plant employees. Though, Prime Minister isn’t much enthusiastic about the proposal of Nairit employees. Anahit Manukyan notes, “Karen Karapetyan, to put it mildly, does not want to believe that the specialists of Nairit plant have presented a good project and that the project is modern.” No one approached people gathered outside the Government building. But they are going to continue their actions next week.
