Why Robert Kocharyan does not give interview?

On January 17, 2rd.am contacted Viktor Soghomonyan, Spokesman for Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan, asking him to comment on press reports alleging that Robert Kocahryan has settled in the United States. The source also wanted to know when the interview promised by the second president on the domestic political developments would be published. “Judging by various publications of recent days, I see that the mass media cannot agree on the place of abode of Robert Kocharyan – some say he lives in the USA, others in Moscow, Paris or elsewhere. To overcome this problem, I am ready to provide a temporary area in our office to representatives of some newspapers in an effort to organize creative meetings for them so that they will be able to invent new articles about sensational dwelling places. The available options are extremely simple. To be more serious, I want to inform everyone that Robert Kocharyan continues to live in Yerevan and he has no intention to change his place of residence. He last visited the USA in 2014 for a couple of days. As for the so-called ‘secret’ meetings held by the second president I want to say that he [Kocharyan] meets whoever he wants and whenever he wants in Armenia and those are far from being ‘secret’ meetings. As for the promised interview I must say that the delay has its reasons: the logic of the political process is somewhat distorted, the arrangement of political forces which are going to run in the April parliamentary elections is not known yet, besides, numerous important factors related to the upcoming election race are uncertain to this point. Thus, the only way to analyze the political situation is to draw multiple conclusions but this style is not typical of Robert Kocharyan,” Viktor Soghomonyan said.
