A part of meat shops in Khorenatsi Street have closed down. Construction is underway here. Special stalls for meat sales will be constructed. State Service for Food Safety (SSFS) instructed that hereafter meat products not be sold in open air stalls. “In the past stalls were put outside and there was no glass case. Now it must be like a shop, customers must enter inside, choose and buy,” says private entrepreneur Emil Avagyan. To remind, today Vahe Danielyan, Head of the Department of Food Safety and Quality Control of the SSFS, announced, “Those meat shops, which will not carry out the instructions, will be closed down.” According to the instruction of the SSFS, construction activities must have started on January 15, but some shops in the biggest meat market of the city today have been working by the previous regime, promising to carry out reconstructions in the near future, “We will renovate in the best way, improving all the sanitary conditions, so that people buy meat with appetite.” Butchers consider these changes to be positive, but they do not agree with the observation that sanitary conditions haven’t been preserved by them, “So far no case of poisoning or death has been registered; our meat is eco friendly product.”
