Gevorg Safaryan sentenced to 2 years’ imprisonment (video)

Member of the Founding Parliament Gevorg Safaryan has been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for an attempt to install a Christmas tree at Liberty Square. The Prosecutor was demanding 2.5 years’ imprisonment for him. Gevorg Safaryan was found guilty by the Court according to the RA Criminal Code Article 316, Part 1 and was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. It means he was found guilty for use of violence against a policeman. He must serve his punishment in a relevant prison of the RA Ministry of Justice, counting beginning of the punishment since January 1, 2016. The precautionary measure, arrest, remained unchanged until the court decision enters into force. The decision can be appealed in the RA Court of Criminal Appeals in one month period after publication of the decision.
