“Amaras” NGO made a call for creating a chamber of Diaspora Armenian lawmakers in the RA NA. Arthur Aleksanyan, founder of the NGO, veteran of Artsakh War, today told journalists that they have already turned to Serzh Sargsyan in connection with this issue, “He said that it is our business, and we acted right that initiated it. He also said that in case of success he would welcome it, if not, that would be our problem. I can present president’s reply in this way,” he said, adding that Diaspora Armenians welcomed their proposal. According to the words of Mr. Aleksanyan, nowadays Diaspora has more problems than Armenia, “All the problems there will be reflected here, in Armenia. It’s time to start thinking about Diaspora. There is a risk of preservation of Armenian identity in Diaspora.” Member of the initiative, the former lawmaker of the SC Azat Arshakyan added that the suggested project intends to create the 2nd chamber in the NA, “The NA existing today will deal only with inner affairs, and the 2nd chamber will deal with pan-Armenian affairs. For example, where the means of “Hayastan” fund are directed, how the resources of Diaspora are spent. In general, relations with Diaspora will be regulated etc.” Touching upon the upcoming parliamentary elections and presentation of political bid by the former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, Mr Arshakyan noted that there is nothing strange that after quitting the post Ohanyan started speaking of the drawbacks of the country, “As long as he is a soldier, he obeys the system. But I think that his withdrawal means that he didn’t agree with March 1, October 27. I honestly said ‘I leave, as I don’t agree with you.’”
