Gyumri development project discussed in the Government

Headed by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, today a consultation on the development projects of the city of Gyumri, Shirak marz, has been held in the Government. Representatives of interested ministries, business organizations and unions of different spheres participated in the meeting. During the consultation, in particular, the project of recovery of Kumayri reserve-museum and Gyumri’s Shirakatsi and Rustaveli streets were discussed. Recovery of historical-cultural as well as other important values will grant an opportunity to boost development of tourism in Gyumri. PM Karen Karapetyan, stressing the importance of implementation of the proposed project, noted that Gyumri has serious capabilities for development of tourism, and in this regard such projects, drafted with business logic, are needed. “Gyumri should be made more comfortable and involve business in that process so that it can get income as well as make the city attractive,” highlighted Head of the Government. Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan, presenting details on the drafting of the project, noted that much work has been done by different organizations, and in the near future presentation of the project will be held in order to discuss further steps. He added that a meeting with the participation of the businessmen, who expressed readiness for investments in Gyumri, is also planned; a special fund will be established for the discussion of projects on recovery of streets, ensuring city lights and development of infrastructures.
