Another issue of “A1+”’s “On paper and in reality” program is on labor market, job-seekers and employers’ demands. Garik Sahakyan, Deputy Head of the State Employment Agency, noted that labor fairs organized by them during the year aim at ensuring direct connection between employers and job-seekers. He says that the tradition of being employed thanks to friends and relatives has been eliminated, “Especially in the private sector. If an employer wants to have an employee, who will be able to advance the business, he will not take into consideration the fact of an employee’s being a friend or a relative. It is another matter, that the factor of being a friend and a relative may be widespread in state institutions,” he said. According to Mr Sahakyan, not always the requirements of employers and job-seekers coincide, “There are highly skilled economists, who, for example, don’t possess computer skills, but I think that after a relevant training, they may become good employees.” Alexander Shagafyan, Executive Director of the U.S. Alumni Association of Armenia, noted that employers understand that they can train specialists according to the working style of their organization, but it requires time and efforts, “The job-seekers’ market is large, thus employers know that they will be able to find experienced specialists, who will do their job on the very first day.”
