Vice-Chairman of the Heritage Party, Armen Martirosyan reacts with a smile to the reports that he is going to run in the next parliamentary elections under the party list of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK). The Heritage wants to participate in the elections with a wider alliance. However, Armen Martirosyan prefers not to give any names at the moment. “It means to choose between black and white, because we are speaking about the future activities of Serzh Sargsyan and his Republican Party of Armenia. If we can achieve our goals and start the fight with a wider alliance, we shall be able to change the political situation,” he said adding that if they fail to form an alliance, the Heritage will participate in the elections alone. “I am convinced that the Heritage will be represented in the next parliament but this time we shall have solved a much smaller problem. For us, it is more important to take steps towards facilitating the situation in the country, which, obviously, can be done through a joint struggle and combined efforts,” Mr. Martirosyan said. The former lawmaker had been following the debates on the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly. He was displeased to know that the bill had passed its first reading. The Heritage party representative sees a particular trend here. “When a lawmaker quits a faction or is ousted, he retains his status of MP. This means that the party cannot dispose the vote of confidence given to the MP by the public. People give the party x mandates, but as a result of intervention by the authorities a few people can leave the faction and the proportion of votes given to the party is upset. The simple mechanism to recall deputies should be made compulsory. Only in that case will it be possible to retain the votes given to a definite party,” he said.
