Galust Sahakyan: Do not make Levon Petrosyan your loved one (video)
During the parliamentary debates on the draft amendments to the Law on Political Parties, the head of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction spoke about yesterday’s sitting, particularly the regular interruption of HAK Secretary’s speech. Speaking about the harsh response of NA Vice-Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan, Levon Zurabyan said, “At least, Heghine Naghdalyan had no right to criticize [HAK Secretary Aram Manukyan] because in those years she persistently protected, assisted and supported the HHSh (Pan-Armenian National Movement) and the first president. The most interesting was that Heghine Naghdalyan came 221st in the party list. I simply want to advise you to be careful with your words and expressions, as they have a boomerang effect. This refers to all Republicans. If there is a party that has no right to say bitter words against the first president and the HHSh, it is the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK). After all ‘crimes’ and ‘mistakes’ committed by the HHSh and the first president, the HHK and its leaders - Ashot Navasardyan, Galust Sahakyan and others, supported the HHSh.” Levon Zurabyan stressed that the HHK had done everything to disband the real opposition, preventing businessmen from financing the opposition. “Let me remind you the history of Bjni in order to understand that you [HHK] are ready to do everything possible to strengthen your position and harm the opposition, even at the cost of our economy. Also, you have been doing your utmost to have a one-party system in the country.” “The NA Speaker and his deputies have the right to make an extraordinary speech, but this time I want to speak, because my name has been mentioned here,” NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan said in reply. “First, I want to say that the HHSh was not a party in the 1990s; the entire nation sided with the HHSh. Do not make Levon Petrosyan (Galust Sahakyan made a slip of the tongue) your loved one and do not think that Ashot Navasardyan praised Levon Ter-Petrosyan deliberately. As for the reaction of Hermine Naghdalyan, I must say that Aram Manukyan said something and she responded to him…”
