Hovik Hoveyan: We should take back what we have lost (video)

We have taken belated stapes to popularize our carpet art, says Hovik Hoveyan, Director of Director of Hovhannes Sharambeyan Folk Arts and Crafts Centre.

“Our neighboring country [Turkey] has already appropriated our carpets and presents them to the world as their own,” he said.

The second conference entitled “Armenian Knot: Traditions of Armenian Carpet Weaving Art” was held in Yerevan on Friday, November 25.

Mr. Hoveyan says the primary goal of the conference is ‘to take back what we have lost’ and present the origins and traditions of Armenian carpet-making to the world.
