Snowfall makes roadways heavy-going in Armenia
Snowfall has hit much of Armenia, blocking many roadways and making others heavy-going. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there were impassable roads road in the country as of 11.00 a.m. The Ministry says snow is coming in some communities in Gegharkunik, Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Syunik, Lori, Shirak and Tavush. The highways between Yerevan and Sevan, Sotk and Karvatchar (Nagorno-Karabakh), Dilijan and Sevan, as well as Vardenyats mountain pass are heavy-going. The Emergencies Department of Georgia’s Interior Ministry reports that Upper Lars checkpoint is open only for passenger cars with tyre protection chains. The checkpoint will be open for trucks in the second half of the day.
