Secretary of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) faction, Gagik Melikyan, was not surprised to hear that Deputy Head of the Presidential Staff Victor Dallakyan had decided to join the opposition. “This is not the first time he [Dallakyan] has made such a decision. He said he was going to form an opposition force. I think one need not and should not try to gain political dividends by defaming others. I think this is not the last time in his case. He has twice become a member of the HHK. I do not accept that format where one criticizes Serzh Sargsyan so vehemently making senseless statements. This is not acceptable by people. I think immorality need not be a requirement in politics," he said. Gagik Melikyan does not share the opinion that Dallakyan was directed by Baghramyan 26 to “pulverize” opposition votes before the 2017 parliamentary elections. “There were other versions as well. There is an opinion that he going to fight against Edmon Marukyan, Chairman of the Bright Armenian Party. I am inclined to think that Dallakyan simply wants to become a lawmaker. However, the style he has chosen to achieve his goal is wrong and unacceptable.” The HHK lawmaker also disagreed with the opinion that Viktor Dallakyan quitted the party because of a conflict. “He only wanted to have his place in politics, and become an MP. One more thing: if anything happened to me after this press conference, do not blame Victor Dallakyan,” Mr. Melikyan said in reply to Dallakyas’s statement made on Tuesday.
