Sitting of Council of Elders in Gyumri boycotted (video)

Today the newly elected Council of Elders of Gyumri convened a sitting. GALA party, Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) and Armenian Renaissance Party, which overcame the 6-percent threshold in October 2 local elections, boycotted the sitting. Nevertheless, Samvel Balasanyan’s oath ceremony took place. Number 34 PEC sitting was held on Sunday, during which the mandates of Gyumri’s 33-member Council of Elders were distributed between the political powers, which overcame the 6-percent threshold, in the following way: Balasanyan Alliance, which supports the current Mayor Samvel Balasanyan- 17, Prosperous Armenia Party- 8, Armenian Renaissance Party-4, GALA party 4 mandates. Arthur Misakyan, member of the Board of Armenian Renaissance Party, told “A1+” that the opposition coalition can go to court to dispute the election results.
