Garnik Margaryan is angry and surprised
Garnik Margaryan, Chairman of the Homeland and Honour Party, is angry and surprised. “He [Margaryan] says the accusations are ungrounded,” lawyer Hovik Arsenyan told A1+. Garnik Margaryan, 72, was arrested on suspicion of aiding and cooperating with a criminal gang led by Artur Vardanyan. Margaryan does not admit the charges leveled against him. Recently, he has been formally accused of attempting to usurp state power. “He is a resilient personality. He hopes that all charged will be dropped. He says they want to call public attention to the phenomena and give artificial names,” the lawyer added. Today, Arsenyan met M arnik Margaryan. The lawyer says his client was unaware of the existence of the criminal gang. Margaryan does not deny meeting Artur Vardanyan who told him about his organization which, as Vardanyan said, acted for the benefit of Armenia and Artsakh. “Vardanyan also denied that there was a criminal conspiracy between him and Margaryan,” the lawyer added. Garnik Margaryan has been in custody since January 14.
