HCA Vanadzor: Violations detected in Vanadzor during pre-election campaign
Helsinki Citizens' Assembly-Vanadzor Office observed a number of violations when monitoring election campaign in Armenia’s Vanadzor city. In particular, campaign materials and are posted on the buildings of educational institutions, public catering or trading facilities in different parts of the city. In connection with the aforesaid violations, the HCA Vanadzor applied to the DEC, citing Article 20 of the RA Electoral Code, which says candidates are prohibited to post campaign posters on buildings occupied by state government bodies or local self-government bodies, on or inside public catering or trading facilities and on or inside public transportation means, irrespective of the form of ownership. Tigran Papanyan, Chairman of Precinct Election Commission N30, said during the Sept. 24 press conference that the Commission had received reports that campaign posters were posted only on public transportation.
