Government to present realistic budget - Karen Karapetyan
On September 28, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received a delegation led by IMF Mission Head Hossein Samiei. The Armenian PM and the Head of the IMF Mission discussed bilateral cooperation, the current state of Armenia's economy, the planned changes in the country’s tax code, improvement of the business and issues related to the fiscal and monetary policy. Karen Karapetyan and Hossein Samiei stressed the importance of measures aimed at improving the business environment and infrastructures and implementation of programs. Speaking about the 2017 draft budget, the Armenian PM said the government would present a realistic budget, without exaggerating the difficulties or overestimating the opportunities. Karen Karapetyan highlighted the need to ensure proper control and increased predictability from the perspective of effective functioning of government. During the meeting, the sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
