EUR 20 million to development of the RA agriculture

In spite of rainy weather, in the morning English Park was already crowded. “Festival of rural life and traditions” has been held for already third year, uniting 100 farmers, entrepreneurs from Armenia and Georgia. Vahram Ghazaryan cultivates organic certified blackberry, raspberry and Damask rose; he is the winner and beneficiary of the agricultural project of the EU Austrian Development Bank, which granted him a chance to take apart in the festival. Arthur Nazaryan, resident of Yerpin village, implements dairy production with the support of Enpard project of the UNO and had received an invitation for participation from the Ministry of Agriculture. The festival aims at bridging the manufacturers of organic food and the consumers. Besides, the participants will be given presents and awards in “Best woman farmer”, “Best farmers’ group”, “Best entrepreneur” nominations. “This festival is not only a nice event to display and finally contribute to the consumption of the agricultural products, but also an opportunity to highly assess the role of agriculture in the development of the country. We have allocated more than EUR 20 million for supporting agriculture in Armenia, and recently I have signed a project of another 7 million. Besides, we, together with Austrian Development Agency, implement project of development of organic agriculture in Armenia,” notes Head of the EU delegation to Armenia Piotr Switalski.
