Investigative Committee: Mayor of Sevan summoned for interrogation as a witness
In Regional Investigative Division of Gegharquniq of the RA Investigative Committee materials on squandering committed by officials of Sevan community with abuse of official position at the end of July, 2016 were received from the Police. Considering that the materials apparently contain crime elements envisaged by the Article 179 of RA Criminal Code, on September 5 a criminal case was initiated in Sevan Investigative Division according to the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 179 of RA Criminal Code. Necessary investigatory actions were conducted to find all circumstances of the case. In order to provide the comprehensive and complete investigation, Mayor of Sevan Rudik Ghukasyan was summoned in the order defined by law to be interrogated as a witness. The latter did not go to the investigative body without informing in a proper way why he did not present himself and the investigator made a decision on his apprehension. On September 23 R. Ghukasyan was presented to the investigative body; he came with an advocate and assumed the obligation to come to an investigatory action later. Note: Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
