Sevan Mayor: Everything is orchestrated by the governor
Mayor of Sevan City, Rudik Ghukasyan, says his detention and interrogation in the Martuni division of the Investigative Committee were a show. “Everything is organized by the Chief of Sevan Police, Vigen Aghekyan. Now, he is supporting another candidate. Every day, they play some game and try to entrap me. How should I know what they are planning to do tomorrow? Everything is orchestrated by the governor of Gegharkunik,” Rudik Ghukasyan told A1+. Rudik Ghukasyan was called for questioning in connection with a case related to underground pipeline theft. The mayor says he was invited as a witness in the case and no charged have been filed against him. After interrogation, he participated in the pre-election meeting. Mayoral elections are slated for October 2 in Sevan. The incumbent mayor, Rudik Ghukasyan, is does not support the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK). His contender Sargis Marudyan is Deputy Director of the Sevan National Park. Though he has no party affiliation, he is supported by the local governor. The third candidate is Ara Smbatyan.
