Criminal case initiated over death of Arshak Grigoryan

At around 1.20 p.m. the police in Gyumri received a report that Arshak Grigoryan, 26, was transferred to the hospital with a fatal gunshot wound to his head. In the result of urgent investigatory actions, it was revealed that the young man had been shot in the basement of their house. The inspection of the scene of death revealed blood traces, a Makarov model gun with charged bullets and a capsule. A criminal case was initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 110 and the Part 1 of the Article 235 of the Criminal Code. Article 110. Causing somebody to commit suicide.  Causing somebody to commit suicide or make an attempt at a suicide by indirect willfulness or by negligence, by means of threat, cruel treatment or regular humiliation of one’s dignity, is punished with imprisonment for the term of up to 3 years Article 235. Illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices. Necessary samples were taken from the scene and forensic examinations were commissioned to find out circumstances of the death. Arshak Grigoryan was the son of Vardevan Grigoryan, a candidate the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) in the Oct. 2 by-elections in Gyumri.
