Republican lawmaker Samvel Alexanyan will continue to speak to journalists in the same manner in the fall session of the National Assembly. “My dear girl, give me € 500 and I shall answer all your questions,” he said. Karo Karapetyan, a lawmaker from the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), refrained from speaking about the relationship between the National Assembly and the new cabinet led by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, as well as the activities of the former government. Republican lawmaker Sedrak Saroyan believes that Hovik Abrahamyan decided to leave the post of Prime Minister himself. “Who would miss such a position from his hands!” he said. Saroyan thinks Karen Karapetyan’s appointment as Prime Minister was a right decision though he did not see any social polarization during the term of office of Hovik Abrahamyan. “Karen Karapetyan has demonstrated himself everywhere, he will show his talent in his new post as well,” the Republican lawmaker said. Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov reminds that the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) bears responsibility for all failures of the government. “Hovik Abrahamyan did not bring that government from his father’s home,” he said. “The Republican Party has been responsible for all negative and positive developments in this country since 1999,” Eduard Sharmazanov said. Mr. Sharmazanov could not recall any economic success registered by Abrahamyan-led government. In his farewell speech, Abrahamyan said there is a polarization in society. Today, all Republicans hope that Karen Karapetyan will put an end to that polarization. However, are these failures due to the prime minister? “The problem lies with people who seat in their places and do not want to make their own decisions,” says Republican Samvel Nikoyan. Opposition lawmaker Levon Zurabyan does not pin hopes on Karen Karapetyan because he will deal with the same majority in the National Assembly. “I have a question to ask: did the regime led by Serzh Sargsyan decide to fight against monopolies and corruption? In that case, the change of Prime Minister is mere imitation,” Zurabyan said. He says Serzh Sargsyan has tried everything but nothing has changed in the country in the last eight years. “Therefore, it is necessary to change the clan system,” Zurabyan said in conclusion.
