In Tavush marz 10 percent of sowing area isn’t cultivated for being a border area; it makes up about 7000 hectares. “7000 hectares is disturbing, of course. There are even areas, which aren’t included in those 7000 hectares, but for known reasons there aren’t cultivated, too. Bombardment, shelling, for these reasons the sowing areas have decreased. In Chinari border community compared to last year the areas sown to wheat have decreased,” said Grigor Paytyan, Head Specialist of Department of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Tavush regional administration. In general, he says that the high percentage of cultivation of lands in the region is connected with allocation of seeds and diesel fuel.
