Detention of the people from Khorenatsi street reminded Aram Sargsyan, President of Armenian Democratic Party, of the recent events in Turkey, “There was an impression that we were in Turkey, where coup happened, and thousands of people were arrested, now in Armenia people are taken directly from the street,” today he told the journalists and added that it is dangerous and a wrong path chosen by the authorities. Mr Sargsyan thinks that the authorities will not change by force of arms, but they must carry out inner, serious changes at the public demand. Larisa Alaverdyan, Executive Director of Against Legal Arbitrariness NGO, touched upon yesterday’s incident in the police regiment, as a result of which members of Sasna Dzrer (Daredevils of Sasoun) armed group were injured. Mrs Alaverdyan, watching the videos of those actions, got an impression that the police officers wanted to mutilate the gunmen, “They intended not to kill, but skillfully mutilate, so that they remain people with disabilities until the end of their lives,” she said. Larisa Alaverdyan tried to find out whether in such a situation the state is obliged to show medical aid to the rebels, “Yes, it is obliged to. Even lifers must be shown medical aid; criminal case has been instituted against these guys only recently,” she summed up. As for the doctors kept in the police HQ, Larisa Alaverdyan thinks, that they are hostages, “On any condition keeping a person against his will is hostage-taking. No argument can justify that step.”
