Police: Doctors taken hostage by gunmen
The spokesman for the Armenian police, Ashot Aharonyan, has made a new Facebook post saying the gunmen remaining in the seized police station in Erebuni district have taken doctors hostage. “As reported earlier this night, there were two wounded gunmen in the seized Erebuni police compound. Law enforcers called on them to surrender to receive the necessary medical aid but their demand was rejected. Likewise, the gunmen turned down the request of the relatives to transport the wounded to hospital. Later, the members of the armed group demanded that a doctor visit the seized police station as they said their wounded friends were in critical condition. A team of doctors was sent to the police HQ who were taken hostage upon their arrival. Law enforcement authorities are taking measures to release the doctors through negotiations,” Aharonyan said.
