The honorary stars of cinematographer Albert Yavuryan, directors Edmond Keosayan and Dmitry Kesayants were placed at Charles Aznavour square among other prolific masters of the Armenian Cinema on Sunday, July 10. The official opening of 13th GOLDEN APRICOT Yerevan International Film Festival was announced by honouring the prominent cultural figures of Armenia. “It is very sad that Albert is not with us. I think it would be a great happiness for him to appear amongst such wonderful people,” says Maya Yavuryan, the widow of Albert Yavuryan. “This is always the case: people are appreciated after they are dead,” said Anahit Kesayants, the wife of Dmitri Kesayants. This year, the festival has received more than 900 submissions from 91 countries. Around 135 films are included into the competition and non-competition different programs. “Every year, Golden Apricot brings the world to Armenia. And the most interesting is that the world fits in Armenia. The festival also takes Armenia to the world,” said film critic David Muradyan.
