Another 50 Armenians stranded at Upper Lars checkpoint arrived in Yerevan
The fifth plane with Armenian citizens, who had been stranded at the Upper Lars checkpoint in the recent days, arrived in Yerevan on Friday. The plane belonging to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation brought 50 passengers to the country. They were met by the operational response group of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia, representatives of the medical services, psychological services, and information services, who have been working at the airport for the past two days, providing medical and other assistance to the incoming passengers and regular updates to the public. Thirteen Russian citizens, who remained stranded in Georgia after a landslide t the checkpoint flew back to Russia in the same airplane. All passengers expressed words of gratitude to the Ministries of Emergency Situations of Russia and Armenia for caring attitude. The special flights were arranged and operated within the framework of an agreement reached between the governments of the two countries after a landslide on the Georgian Military Road on June 23.
